ReStackor demo for the free OpenOffice from Sun Microsystems:

Three steps to install the ReStackor demo:

Download the OpenOffice ReStackor zip file.
Open the zip file and copy the ReStackor folder to the root of the C drive.
- Note: The ReStackor software and embedded macros are hard coded to operate on the C:\ReStackor path. The OpenOffice ReStackor spreadsheets in C:\ReStackor\OpenOffice can be copied, moved and run from any directory but the ReStackor code must be located on the C:\ReStackor\Code\restackor.exe path. ReStackor will automagically be on that path if you install the ReStackor folder in the zip archive on the root of the C drive.
Copy the OpenOffice spreadsheet file C:\ReStackor\Excel\ReStackor.ods to some other directory like C:\My Calcs\ReStackor
- Open c:\My Calcs\ReStackor\ReStackor.ods and you are ready to rock!

Demo Code Limitations:

The demo runs the full featured ReStackor pro version of the software. ReStackor pro includes all the shim stack force balance and stack stiffness calculations of Shim ReStackor and adds the capability to compute fluid dynamic flow losses and forces through the suspension flow circuits.

In demo mode the software will not allow valve diameters greater than 11mm, shim diameters greater than 10 mm or stacks with more then ten shims.

Unlocking the Demo:

To unlock ReStackor from the demo mode you need to purchase a code key from paypal. Paypal code keys are available for Shim ReStackor and ReStackor pro. Instructions on purchasing a code key are here.

OpenOffice Operation Tips:

Allow ReStackor macros to execute:

Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/Security/Macro Security/Low. You can set the Macro Security to Medium if you make the directory where you run ReStackor a trusted macro source.

Turn off link update dialog:

Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org Calc/General and set "Update links when opening" radio box to Always.

Use absolute reference for link files:

Tools/Options/Load/Save/General and uncheck radio box for "Save URLs relative to file system. This lets you copy ReStackor spreadsheets to other directories without breaking the data links back to the C drive.

Europe: If you are running ReStackor in Europe you are going to have to find a way to deal with the dorky dot/comma decimal separators used in the US. The code is going to insist on dots for any decimals. If your spreadsheet is setup to use commas you are going to have a problem. Setup info is here.
